LUHLANGOTSINI– The Tinkhundla System of Governance was under the spotlight once again when it’s effectiveness in delivering meaningful development at community level was commended.
This was at Luhlangotsini Chiefdom under Chief Mabaleka Mncina where Pigg’s Peak Inkhundla leadership, including Member of Parliament (MP) and Speaker in Parliament, Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza, Indvuna YeNkhundla, Mthobisi Vilakati and Bucopho, Mfanzile Hlophe, held a Vusela meeting to provide feedback on community development projects.
Residents of Luhlangotsini commended the ongoing constituency development and income-generating projects during the Vusela outreach meeting held in the area.
Constituency Leadership Mandate
The gathering formed part of the constituency leadership’s mandate to provide feedback to communities on the progress of projects implemented through the constituency and to hear directly from residents on issues affecting them.
Addressing the meeting, community members actively participated by asking questions, offering suggestions and sharing their views on development initiatives taking place within the chiefdom. While some residents raised concerns and proposals for improvement, many expressed appreciation for the positive impact of projects that have already been implemented.
Speaking after the meeting, the Indvuna YeNkhundla, Vilakati, described the engagement as productive and insightful, noting that it provided leaders with an opportunity to listen to the people and assess the effectiveness of development programmes.
Tinkhundla System Effectiveness
“The interaction reinforced our belief in the effectiveness of the Tinkhundla system, which I could simply describe as a strong governance structure capable of delivering meaningful development when adequately empowered,” he said.
Vilakati added that deep down, he was reminded of how good the Tinkhundla system is. He said when he looked at it, he believed it only needed empowerment to achieve even greater results for their people.
The leaders reiterated their commitment to maintaining close contact with communities through regular Vusela meetings, ensuring that residents remain informed about development projects while also providing a platform for them to voice their concerns and aspirations.
Strengthen Accountability, Transparency
The outreach meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Pigg’s Peak Inkhundla leadership to strengthen accountability, transparency and community participation in local development initiatives.
