MBABANE- As Youth Month continues to be celebrated, attention turns to the dreams, experiences and contributions of young people who continue to shape the future of the nation. The story of the African child is one that carries both challenges and possibilities a journey marked by obstacles, but also by resilience, creativity and hope.
In Eswatini, young people represent a generation filled with ambition and potential. From classrooms and universities to businesses, creative spaces and community initiatives, young Emaswati are finding ways to express their talents and contribute to the development of the country.
However, like many young people across Africa, the journey is not without challenges. Issues such as unemployment, limited opportunities, financial pressures and access to resources continue to affect some young people as they work towards achieving their goals. These realities highlight the importance of creating supportive environments where youth can access opportunities that allow them to grow.
Education remains one of the strongest foundations for empowering the African child. In Eswatini, learning institutions continue to equip young people with knowledge and qualifications that prepare them for future opportunities. However, the changing world has shown that success requires more than academic achievements. Skills development, innovation, digital literacy and entrepreneurship have become increasingly important in helping young people adapt and compete in a changing economy.
Despite the challenges, many young Emaswati continue to demonstrate determination and creativity. Through entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, entertainment and other industries, youth are proving that they are not only waiting for opportunities but are also creating them.
