MBABANE – Four men are expected to appear before court tomorrow following their arrest in separate cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors, as the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) continues to strengthen efforts to protect children and ensure justice is served.
The suspects, aged 19, 23, 36 and 60, were arrested by police officers from Mankayane, Manzini and Matsapha after investigations into separate reports involving children aged between 10 and 13 years.
In Mankayane, police arrested and charged a 60 year old man from Matimatima and a 19 year old man from Ekudzeni under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act, 2018. The arrests followed investigations into separate reports involving two 10 year old girls. Police said both suspects were apprehended after investigators gathered evidence relating to the allegations.
Meanwhile, Manzini Police arrested and charged a 36 year old man from Ntunja in connection with allegations involving his 13 year old stepdaughter. The matter was reported to police, prompting an investigation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.
In a separate case, Matsapha Police arrested and charged a 23 year old man from Mbikwakhe following allegations involving a 13 year old girl. The suspect is also expected to appear before court.
The four suspects are scheduled to appear before the courts, where the cases will proceed through the legal process.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combating sexual offences and domestic violence, stressing that protecting children remains one of its highest priorities. Police said every report is treated with urgency and investigated thoroughly to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable.
The organisation also encouraged members of the public to report suspected cases of child abuse without fear, emphasising that early reporting can help protect vulnerable children and support the delivery of justice.
The latest arrests reflect the continued collaboration between communities and law enforcement in safeguarding children and reinforcing the message that crimes against minors will be met with decisive legal action.
