…E10 000 reward offered for information leading to arrest
BETHAL, SOUTH AFRICA – The South African Police Service (SAPS) is tracking a Liswati truck driver who is allegedly linked to the theft of a load of yellow maize, with a E10 000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest.
According to information provided to SAPS, the driver allegedly left at about 2:30am and travelled to the Bethal Truck Stop, where he reportedly met another truck and a car believed to be linked to the alleged theft.
It is further alleged that the two trucks swapped their loads at the truck stop before leaving the premises.
The driver allegedly later noticed calls from his company and is said to have fabricated a story before absconding with the load.
Efforts are currently underway to locate the driver, the truck and the allegedly stolen yellow maize. The truck stop is also assisting SAPS with investigations to establish the whereabouts of those allegedly involved.
Police have also raised concern over the other truck reportedly operating under the name Makwande Supply & Distribution, using the allegedly false registration number LF47LVGP.
The matter has been registered under Bethal CAS 74/8/2026 and is being investigated by Sgt. XD Khuzwayo.
SAPS is appealing to anyone with information that could assist in locating the driver, truck or the stolen load to contact the investigating officer or Bethal SAPS on 013 61 2222.
A E10 000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the successful recovery of the load and the arrest of the suspect.
The identity of the suspect has been withheld by this publication as no arrest has been made yet and the suspect has not appeared in court. The allegations therefore remain allegations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of law.
Members of the public have been urged not to confront or approach the suspect, but to provide any information directly to SAPS.
