MANZINI – Liswati student Nothando Elishie Nkambule has earned international recognition after receiving the TaiwanICDF Academic Excellence Award for her outstanding performance in the Master’s programme in the School of Pharmacy at Taipei Medical University in Taiwan.
The recognition marks an important milestone for Nkambule, who has been pursuing advanced training in pharmacy while adapting to life and learning in a different country.
For her, however, the award carries a deeply personal meaning. She dedicated it to her two daughters, whom she described as a constant source of love, motivation and inspiration.
“This achievement is meaningful to me, and I dedicate it to my two daughters, who continue to be a great source of love, motivation and inspiration,” Nkambule said.
She said her daughters encouraged her to keep pushing herself, particularly during the demands of pursuing a Master’s degree away from home.
Nkambule also credited her family for standing by her throughout the journey, saying their prayers, encouragement and unwavering support helped her remain focused.
“I am also deeply grateful to my family for their prayers, encouragement and unwavering support throughout this journey,” she said.
The TaiwanICDF Academic Excellence Award recognises Nkambule’s strong performance at Taipei Medical University.
Her time in Taiwan has also provided her with exposure to a different learning environment, while giving her an opportunity to broaden her professional knowledge and experience a new culture.
Nkambule expressed her appreciation to the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), Taipei Medical University and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini for making the opportunity possible.
“My sincere appreciation goes to TaiwanICDF, Taipei Medical University, and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini for providing me with this life-changing opportunity,” she said.
Beyond the classroom, Nkambule said her experience in Taiwan has helped her grow professionally and personally, while allowing her to form meaningful connections.
“Studying in Taiwan has contributed immensely to my academic and professional growth, while also allowing me to experience a new culture and create meaningful connections,” she said.
Her story highlights the opportunities that international education can create for emaSwati students seeking specialised knowledge and professional exposure.
For Nkambule, the experience has also been a journey of balancing her ambitions with the responsibilities and realities of being a mother away from home.
At the heart of it all have been her two daughters, whose love and encouragement she says have continued to inspire her to go above and beyond.
The award is therefore not only a recognition of Nkambule’s performance at university, but also a moment she shares with the family that supported her along the way.
As she continues her Master’s programme and looks ahead to her professional future, Nkambule’s story offers an uplifting example of determination, opportunity and the power of family support.
