PIGGS PEAK – Eswatini and The Gambia are looking to strengthen technological cooperation and unlock new opportunities in the digital economy through knowledge-sharing and the exchange of technical expertise.
This emerged during a bilateral meeting held today, October 9, 2026, between Eswatini’s Ministry of Information, Communications and ICT (MICT) and officials from The Gambia’sMinistry of Information and Digital Economy at the MICT Conference Room.
The Eswatini delegation was led by MICT Under-Secretary Macanjana Motsa, with discussions centred on information and communications technology, digital transformation and possible areas of collaboration between the two countries.
The engagement created an opportunity for both delegations to exchange experiences and explore ways of strengthening cooperation in the development of digital technologies and related services.

During the meeting, Eswatini presented the ministry’s mandate, programmes and ongoing initiatives across its departments, providing the Gambian delegation with an overview of its work in the information and communications sector.
The discussions further sought to identify potential areas for joint programmes and technical cooperation, laying a foundation for continued engagement between the two ministries.
As countries increasingly embrace digital technologies to support economic activity and service delivery, international partnerships provide opportunities to share knowledge, learn from different experiences and explore innovative approaches to technological development.
For Eswatini, the engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen international partnerships and promote collaboration that can contribute to the country’s digital development.
The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation between governments in exchanging expertise and exploring approaches that can support the growth of the digital economy and deliver benefits to citizens.
