JOHANNESBURG – A new chapter begins for Orlando Pirates Football Club as they welcome Abdeslam Ouaddou as the new Head Coach ahead of the upcoming season.

The 46-year-old Moroccan tactician steps in following the departure of Jose Riveiro, who has joined Al Ahly after a successful three-year spell that brought silverware and stability to the Buccaneers. Ouaddou brings impressive credentials to Soweto – having earned 68 caps for the Moroccan national team and having played in top European leagues, he is widely respected for his tactical acumen and leadership.

The club announced that Ouaddou will be supported by a strong technical team including Mandla Ncikazi, Rayaan Jacobs, Helmi Gueldich, and Tyron Damons. He is expected to arrive in South Africa before the week ends.

Pre-season training officially begins on June 27, with the Buccaneers then heading to Marbella, Spain, for their third consecutive international pre-season tour. There, the team will face top European sides including Bolton Wanderers, Pafos FC, Las Palmas, and Granada in a series of high-profile friendlies from July 8 to 20.

With this new leadership and ambitious pre-season plans, the Buccaneers are setting the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
