MBABANE – The Alliance Française Mbabane Eswatini will tomorrow have an outdoor cinema showing a French film about Marinette, a female footballer from France.
The movie will start showing at 6 p.m. The duration is 1 hour 36 minutes. Entry is free.
This was confirmed by Cultural Coordinator Karyn Groening, who shared with this publication that the movie is quite relevant right now as the Olympic Games are currently underway in France, and it also highlights feminism, women’s rights, and equality.
When reached for comment, Groening said, ‘’The movie is about the journey of a female Marinette Pichon, a football player from France. The film follows her fight to spread awareness of women’s rights in sport, a true pioneer of French women’s soccer.’’
The film follows her fight to spread awareness about women’s rights in sports. A path full of pitfalls, from a childhood ravaged by an alcoholic and violent father to the heavy burden of coming out in an era where there is no such thing as LGBTQ+ rights, Her success in sport will fuel her desire to make a difference in the recognition of French women’s soccer, homosexuality, and equal opportunity. It is the story of a woman’s life as a fighter, an uncompromising ode to freedom and to surpassing oneself.
