MBABANE– Be my Valentine!

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and affection between partners. It is a day filled with expressions of romance, thoughtful gestures, and memories. We met up with this interesting couple who have been married for almost two decades; they shared their experience and unique approach to love.

Meet the Couple

Leroy Ndikandika and Gcebile White Hippo Mvubu is a married couple who have navigated their relationship with love and faith.

Ndikandika  is from Pigg’s Peak, and Gcebile, who hails from Malindza in the Lubombo region, met in 2007 while working together at Channel YemaSwati (formerly known as Channel S).

Their relationship blossomed from a strong friendship, sharing rides home after work, and gradually deepening their bond. Leroy finally asked Gcebile out during a drive while playing R. Kelly’s “You Made Me Love You.” They married in 2008, marking the beginning of their journey together.

Romantic Gestures

When asked if Leroy is the romantic type, Gcebile enthusiastically affirms it. “Leroy expresses his love in both grand and subtle ways, often surprising Gcebile with thoughtful gifts upon returning from trips,” shared White Hippo. This attention to detail keeps the romance alive in their marriage.

Valentine’s Day Traditions

Despite the commercial aspects often associated with Valentine’s Day, the couple do not engage in traditional celebrations. They believe in acknowledging love without the pressure of buying gifts. Instead, they place greater significance on their wedding anniversary, which they celebrate with heartfelt memories and meaningful gestures.

Key to Lasting Love

For Leroy and Gcebile, the foundation of their enduring relationship lies in their faith. They believe that their shared beliefs and commitment to each other have been instrumental in keeping their love strong. Their advice to couples today is to find their unique rhythm and build their relationship on understanding and commitment.

Valentine’s Day serves as a reminder of the love that exists in many forms. For the couple, it is not about commercial gifts but rather the everyday expressions of love that truly matter. Their story emphasizes the importance of faith, understanding, and commitment as the pillars of lasting love.
