MALINDZA – While some mark their birthdays with popping bottles and five-tier cakes, Bahle Besutfu Construction Company Director Sibusiso Ngcamphalala chose a different kind of celebration this past weekend, one built on compassion, not confetti.

Ngcamphalala, together with his wife Andile and the ever-passionate founder of Phumula Ngwane Home for the Aged, Ayanda Dludlu, turned his birthday into a day of giving at the Malindza-based facility.

Sixteen elderly residents were on the receiving end of his generous heart, walking away with blankets, food hampers and warm meals, and hearts just as full.

Speaking after the heartwarming outreach, Ngcamphalala said this year’s birthday stood out as his most meaningful yet.

He was quoted saying that spending the day with the elderly brought him unmatched joy. “Over the past weekend, I had the best birthday of my entire life,” he said.

“We gifted them with blankets and food items. I’m grateful to Bahle Besutfu Construction for supporting this vision, and to everyone who made the day special, my family, our staff, friends and supporters.”

In true construction boss with a cause style, the team didn’t just come bearing cake, they came bearing care. The donations included cosy winter blankets, t-shirts, a goat, food hampers and even some finger-lickin’ goodies from KFC to spice up the menu.

The gesture did not go unnoticed. Dludlu, visibly moved, said the elderly felt seen and cherished.

“We are really grateful for such generosity. Our elderly felt loved and valued,” she said.

Dludlu further appealed for help in addressing the home’s critical needs, a fence and a borehole, saying these would allow them to start farming and become more self-sustaining.

“We must all play a role in taking care of the elderly,” she added. “It is through them that we learn our values and culture.”

The event was not just a celebration of life, but a reminder that kindness builds stronger communities, one brick of love at a time.
