MBABANE The Bambitje community under Matsanjeni Inkhundla in Shiselweni region today,24 September 2025 received free integrated healthcare services delivered directly to their homes. The initiative, supported by the people of Japan and UNICEF, aimed to help families most affected by acute food insecurity in Eswatini.

Nurses provided a wide range of services, including health education on the importance of immunization, nutrition counseling and support, cancer prevention awareness, sanitation and hygiene promotion, and initiatives to improve access to clean water. Children under five, young people, and elderly community members all benefited from the services, ensuring that no one is left behind in building a healthier generation.

Many community members expressed their appreciation. Make Duduzile Langwenya, (65) a rural health motivator, said, “We learnt so much from the health talks today and we will continue sharing this information with those who couldn’t attend.”

Siphesihle Sithole, 22, also praised the outreach. “I’m grateful I could walk a short distance to get my 14-month-old daughter Simhlelelwe immunized. I couldn’t take her to the clinic because I didn’t have E50 for bus fare. I wish these integrated services could continue at umphakatsi level,” she said.

Officials said bringing services closer to the people ensures vulnerable children and women have access to nutrition, life-saving health services, and clean water. The outreach is part of a larger effort by the government, partners, and communities to improve health and nutrition in rural areas of Eswatini.
