MBABANE – Can the youth rise to the legacy of their elders?

Coolboy the Vocalist, born Phiwayinkhosi Mamba, is sparking serious conversation with his latest single, “Batukulu”—a powerful, message-driven track that blends soulful vocals with social reflection.

Born in Mbabane and raised between Mantabeni and Gobholo, the young artist is using his growing influence to both entertain and educate.

Released on Audiomack and YouTube, “Batukulu” is more than just a catchy tune—it’s a call to action. The song asks young people to reflect on their choices and question whether they’re honouring or surpassing the legacies of their parents and grandparents.

“With poverty and unemployment still affecting many communities, we wanted to challenge the youth to think critically and act,” says his manager, Lindo Maphalala. “Our generation is attached to music, so addressing issues through it is a powerful tool.”

Coolboy’s musical journey began in Sunday school at just seven years old, where his love for singing was first nurtured. Over the years, he formed school groups like New Sounds and Soul Healers, which gave him a platform to explore and grow—laying the groundwork for his solo career.

In 2022, he made his official debut with the single “Kungani” featuring Passion Master. Since then, he’s performed at notable events including the MTN Bushfire Schools Festival, sharing the stage with heavyweights like Toss, Welz Wethu, and Murumba Pitch.

For “Batukulu,” Coolboy teamed up with respected industry figures Ace Julz and the Hlongo Twins.“I’ve always looked up to Ace Julz,” Coolboy says. “After I wrote the hook, I reached out to him to bring my vision to life.”

The Hlongo Twins lend the track a youthful energy, enhancing its appeal while reinforcing its message of unity, growth, and self-awareness.

Though no official live events are planned at this stage, the team is going full throttle online—building momentum across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to reach a wider audience. The song is already generating buzz among young listeners, many of whom are resonating with its honest, hard-hitting message.

With “Batukulu,” Coolboy The Vocalist is quickly positioning himself as a voice of reason for the youth in Eswatini. His ability to weave powerful messages into infectious melodies sets him apart in a growing scene of socially conscious artists.

“Music is more than rhythm and rhyme—it’s a mirror,” Coolboy says. “And I want my music to reflect the truth and inspire change.”
