MANZINI – The roar of motorbikes signaled more than just style and speed on Saturday as the Timphisi Hyena Motorcycle Club, in partnership with the Municipal Council of Manzini and other riding groups, rolled into Zakhele to deliver warmth to the city’s most vulnerable residents.
The 2025 Annual Blanket Run Initiative saw 100 blankets handed over to elderly citizens, women, children and youth from all 12 wards of Manzini, in a heartwarming display of solidarity.
The initiative also roped in Enjabulweni Primary School learners, underscoring the spirit of “young and old, we look out for each other.”
Hyena MCC President thanked sponsors and stakeholders for making the outreach possible, assuring the crowd that the project would continue supporting vulnerable communities monthly.
He expressed appreciation to bikers from Eswatini and South Africa for participating, promising to make next year’s run “even bigger and better.”
President of Nkomazi Riders from South Africa commended Hyena MCC and sponsors for what he called “a life-changing initiative,” urging Enjabulweni School to inspire more young people to embrace social responsibility.
Municipal Council of Manzini CEO, and proud Hyena member, said it was an honour for the Municipality to be part of the event alongside local and cross-border bikers.
She thanked Hyena MCC for creating a memorable moment for the city’s elderly women.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, an elderly representative said the donations had touched their hearts.
“We do not take it for granted that the bikers chose Manzini,” she said, offering prayers for their safe travels home.
Sponsors included Old Mutual, Hyena Motorcycle Club, Enjabulweni High School, B-Trac (Matsapha), Fuch (Matsapha), and RFG Foods, whose contributions made the outreach possible.
From the thunder of engines to the soft warmth of blankets, the day was a reminder that in Manzini, community spirit is alive, loud, and unstoppable.
