‘BON VOYAGE’ AS SWIMMING SQUAD TRAVEL TO WINDHOEK FOR AFRICA AQUATICS

MBABANE – The Eswatini swimmers who will be representing the country in the Africa Aquatics IV Championships left the country beaming with confidence on Tuesday morning.

The team will be competing in the competitions that start on Wednesday, ending Sunday (December 4-8, 2024). The team left by road and they will connect a flight from or Tambo International Airport to the Namibia Capital City, Windhoek.

“Team Eswatini is en route to Windhoek, Namibia. They left in the wee hours of the morning headed to OR Tambo, where they will fly out. Wishing our team travel mercies,” reads a statement from the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA).

At least 14 countries will compete in this prestigious swimming and open water swimming championships to be held at the Olympia Aquatic Centre and Lake Oanob respectively. They are Eswatini, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

ESA announced 19 swimmers that were set to travel for the championships and they included Hayley Hoy, Simanga Dlamini, Simphiwe Dlamini, Chadd Ning, Damien De Sousa, Tiano Fraser, Pedro De Sousa, Luca Fraser, Tsailin Barbosa, and Nosmilo Dlamini. Others are Aimee Willmott, Sibo Mthethwa, Bahle Simelane, Kendra Macnamara, Daniella Nunes, Danika Wilsch, Rachel Dlamini and Leah Dlamini.

Local swimmers had never disappointed when it comes to regional or international competitions as they had won medals and trophies.

Some of the swimmers who had been shining in the past years include Hayley Hoy, Luca Fraser, Damien De Sousa, Chadd Ning, Tiano Fraser, Simanga Dlamini and Tiano Fraser among others.
