MBABANE – Controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, already under scrutiny for allegedly holding an Eswatini passport under another identity, is now linked to 18 murder and attempted murder cases in South Africa.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that an AK-47 assault rifle and two other firearms seized in connection with Matlala have been forensically matched to multiple serious crimes, including high-profile murders.
In Eswatini, the Ministry of Home Affairs is continuing its probe into how Matlala may have acquired local identity documents. Officials have already suspended staff and questioned officers as the case moves closer to court, demonstrating the country’s commitment to accountability.
This latest development highlights both the regional scale of the investigations and the determination of authorities to ensure justice is served on all fronts.
