MBABANE – Bucopho from Hlane under Dvokodvweni Constituency has donated a car to the local community police.

Bucopho from Hlane Chiefdom, Simphiwe Magagula stated that he donated the car around March 2024, because he saw the need to improve the capabilities of the community police in maintaining law and order, as well as ensuring the safety and security of the residents in Hlane.

Magagula also mentioned that there were many criminal offences in the area, so the car would help in reducing them. Some of the crimes occurring in the community included shop robberies and goat theft. And with the car, it was easier to apprehend the robbers and hand them over to the police.

“We used to face situations where we had difficulty catching lawbreakers because by the time the community police arrived after a call from someone who needed help, the thieves had already escaped. Now, with the car it is easy to catch them,” Magagula said.

Magagula further mentioned that the car was essential to prevent cases of child abduction. “Sometimes, a car may park near the road and target school children, kidnapping them. Therefore, with the assistance of the community police car, it would be easier to pursue these criminals. This way, by the time the police officers arrive, we would have apprehended them,” he explained.

Dumisa Nkentjane, a community police officer, expressed gratitude to the Bucopho for supporting the community of Hlane by donating a car. ” We are already using the car to assist our citizens. We have helped a woman who was being robbed by two thieves while she was on her way to the bus station, with this this car,” Nkentjane said.
