MBABANE – Young Buffaloes Ladies have been drawn in a tough group in the CAF Champions League/ COSAFA Qualifier.
They are in Group B that comprise of one of the hosting team Ascent Academy, Mozambique’s Uniqo Desportiva de Lichingo and Botswana’s Gaborone United after the draw on Wednesday (July 24, 2024).
The tournament will be played in Blantyre, Malawi, this year from August 15-24, with the winner to advance to the showpiece continental finals (Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League.
Group A of the qualifiers include University of Western Cape from South Africa, Green Buffaloes from Zambia, Heentals Queens from Zimbabwe and FC Ongos Ladies.
Buffaloes Ladies qualified for the tournament by virtue of being the champions of the Eswatini Women’s Football League.
There were two groups drawn from the eight teams that will be playing for the championships in the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA).
Only the winner earns a place at the finals to join South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns as representatives from the Southern African region in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Young Buffaloes Ladies have gone out in the group stages in the last two editions and they will be looking forward at improving their performance in the regional tournament.
