MBABANE – Cabinet has instructed Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Prince Lonkhokhela to ensure that Emaswati have access to clean water by 2030.
This transpired today (Wednesday, August 7, 2024) when Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy Principal Secretary (PS) Lindiwe Mbingo when she met Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) stakeholders in Mbabane.
According to information from the Ministry, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the vital importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene for achieving universal access by 2030.
Speaking on behalf of the Hon. Minister, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, PS Mbingo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with WASH stakeholders and emphasized the need for continued commitment and dedication towards achieving the goal of universal access by 2030.
The Cabinet has instructed the Hon. Minister to develop a comprehensive plan, in consultation with stakeholders, outlining concrete measures and timelines for achieving universal access to clean water by 2030. This plan will be based on current data on water access and will include details on the projects and initiatives to be undertaken each year until 2030.
The meeting is a significant step in the collective effort towards realizing the vision of universal access to clean water, with all stakeholders working together to create a clear and actionable strategy for achieving this critical goal.
