MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has urged Mbabane Swallows to hoist the country’s flag high by eliminating Mozambique side Club Farroviario de Beira in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round.

Swallows bid farewell at EFA on Thursday afternoon as they left the country for Matola were the second leg match would be played with leading 1-0 from the first leg match played at Lucas Moripe Stadium, South Africa, last Friday.

The deciding match will be played at the Lalgy Arena Stadium, on Saturday, with kick-off being 3pm.

The winners between the two sides will then face South Africa’s giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the second preliminary round, with the winners qualifying for the group stages.

Mbabane Swallows need a draw or a win to set a date against Mamelodi Sundowns.
EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane was represented by Steve Horton during the event attended by Mbabane Swallows players, officials and the media.

Horton said the win would not only benefit the team, but also the country as the players will continue to get the international exposure that can open chances of them making it outside the country.

“Go to Mozambique and finish the job that you started last week,” said the EFA Vice President Steve Horton. He also highlighted the significance of Mbabane Swallows F.C. in advancing to the next stage of this competition. “As a country, our players benefit a lot when our teams progress in such competitions as they get the much-needed international exposure that is desirable for maximum performance in as far as national team football is concerned,” Horton said.
