MBABANE – The National team, Sihlangu will be all out to keep the country’s dream of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations alive when they clash against Mozambique in the second leg match tonight.
The game will be played tonight at Mbombela Stadium, South Africa kick-off 9pm. The two sides are battling for a spot in the 2025 AFCON to be held in Morocco late next year played a 1-all draw on Friday away in Maputo.
Sihlangu had to come from behind as they conceded first by Nsingizini Hotspurs Thubelihle Mavuso equalised with a stunner to hand the team the much needed results with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Sihlangu under Croatian Coach Zdravko Logarusic has made a good start in the team with the draw. Logarusic had a little contribution to the loss against Mali and Guinea Bissau in early September as he had just spent less than a week with the team. He also earns Sihlangu’s first point in Group I of the qualifiers.
Coach Zdravko Logarusic who is assisted by Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane will be surely under pressure to earn more points if they are to keep the hope alive. A lose will definitely rule them out of realising the dream.
Logarusic can make history if he can qualify as the team have failed to reach the biggest football tournament in Africa for any of the previous 34 editions.
Mali who are leading the Group with seven points will face Guinea-Bissau earlier today. Mali beat Guinea-Bissau 1-0 on Friday to take the lead at the top of the table. Sihlangu remains bottom of the table with a single point.
