MBABANE – South African DJ and music producer Chymamusique, born Collen Mmotla, delivered an exhilarating hour-and-a-half set last night at the 23:28 Lounge during the much-anticipated Rhythm and Groove show.
Taking over the decks from DJ Cup (Zama Maseko) at 11 PM and performing until 12:30 AM, Chymamusique captivated the audience with his infectious beats. The crowd responded enthusiastically, dancing the night away and expressing their appreciation with whistles and cheers. The DJ himself was seen enjoying his performance, dancing along with the crowd.
Chymamusique’s connection with his fans extended beyond the music; he graciously posed for pictures with attendees both before and after his set, showcasing his humble demeanor.
The venue was filled to capacity as fans flocked to enjoy the show, which was free of charge. The evening kicked off at 6:30 PM with local DJ Kingheart as the opening act, setting the tone for an impressive lineup that included local talents such as:

Chymamusique: A Rising Star in House Music
Chymamusique, born in Diphale, Burgersfort, has made significant strides in the South African music scene since the early 2000s. Initially starting his musical journey as a gospel and jazz pianist, he transitioned into house music in 2005, quickly establishing himself as a prominent DJ and producer.
His rise to fame includes the release of his third studio album, ‘Musique,’ on September 30, 2021, which debuted at number one on the South African iTunes album charts. The album features collaborations with renowned artists such as Afrotraction, Da Vynalist, DJ Tears PLK, Brian Temba, Rona Ray, and Buddynice, showcasing his versatility in blending various musical styles.
Throughout his career, Chymamusique has shared the stage with industry giants including Vinny Da Vinci, Ralf Gum, Brazo Wa Afrika, Glen Lewis, QB Smith, Charles Webster, and Atjazz. Beyond his work as a DJ, he is also the founder and manager of Chymamusique Records and is signed to prominent record labels including House Afrika and Soul Candi.
As the night came to a close, it was clear that Chymamusique’s performance had made a lasting impact on both the venue and the fans in attendance, solidifying his status as one of the leading figures in the house music genre.
