MBABANE – Country and Western music sensation Cleopatra Methula’s latest album, ‘A decade & a rose,’ is back on the Apple Music Eswatini: Top 200 Albums list following winning the NACAs this week.
NACA is National Arts and Culture Awards. The album was crowned this past Wednesday as Outstanding Country Album’ at the Hhohho Regional edition of the NACA Awards held in Pigg’s Peak.
‘A decade & a rose’ made a re-entry at number eight on the top streaming albums on Thursday, and is currently sitting at number 14. By the time of writing this article, it was the highest placed album by a Liswati artist on these coveted charts.
Responding to this news, Cleopatra Methula expressed her gratitude to Emaswati for streaming her music, and said it was humbling for a genre like hers to hold its own against more commercial genres. She urged Emaswati to stream more albums by local artists, stating that streaming was the new way of consuming music.
The album has 14 tracks, 11 of which were recorded at her sold out show titled ‘A decade & a rose,’ which was held at the Mbabane Theatre Club in 2023. Three songs are studio tracks that had previously been released as singles. They include hit singles ‘Kuhle Kusebenta Imali’ and ‘I’m a fighter’.
