COOPERATIVE DAY ON THURSDAY

MBABANE – Members of different cooperatives in the country should get ready for their big day, which is slated for this coming Thursday (July 18, 2024).

The Cooperative Day 2024 aims to bring together all vital stakeholders to create an environment of knowledge-sharing and networking. This was confirmed by Commissioner of Cooperatives Russell Nxumalo, in a statement sent to this publication. The day will be celebrated at Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre in Manzini.

Cooperative Day is an occasion that highlights the vital role of cooperatives in building a better future for all in Eswatini. According to Nxumalo, cooperatives, by their very nature, encourage collaboration, unity, and shared responsibility. They foster a sense of community, raise human dignity and aim to uplift their members and the society at large.

According to Nxumalo, the day will serve as an opportunity for Cooperatives from across the country to showcase their products and services to co-operators, the general public, and prospective members.

He stated that Eswatini National Youth Co-operative Alliance (ENYCA) an Apex body of Youth Co-operatives will also launch a Youth Business Corner and a one stop platform for marketing Co-operatives products and services via YouTube.

Nxumalo stated that the event will take place at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre and will be officiated by the Minister for Commerce, Industry, and Trade Manqoba Khumalo.

Nxumalo said the cooperatives day aims to raise awareness about their impact on sustainable development, poverty alleviation, job creation, and economic empowerment. As cooperatives showcase their products and services, they will demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and inclusive growth. This event will bring together co-operators, the public, and prospective members, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.
