MANZINI – A Jack of All Trades
Meet Angel Zubuko, better known as Just_Angel—an 18-year-old powerhouse from Zakhele, Manzini, who is redefining what it means to be a multi-talented creative in Eswatini. With her radiant personality and relentless drive, she is not just pursuing one dream—she’s boldly chasing many, breaking barriers along the way.
Her journey began in school, where she discovered platforms that would ignite her artistic path. “I’d love to describe myself as a Jack of All Trades,” she says, a phrase that perfectly encapsulates her wide-ranging passions.

Zubuko first love was music, nurtured in Sunday school where she served as both a song leader and songwriter. She competed in local contests, most notably the Ntjilo Ntjilo Festival, where she secured second place and earned a cash prize. Even when told she was “too young to record,” she remained undeterred.
When music avenues stalled, she pivoted to modeling in Grade 6, competing in a school fashion show and making it to the top five. Though she didn’t win, the experience sparked a lasting interest. “I loved it and wanted to pursue it,” she recalls.
High school brought a new set of challenges, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. With modeling on hold, Angel turned to acting—a decision that would further shape her creative identity. She became the first-ever Drama Captain at her school and took a leading role in a short film raising awareness about dementia, cementing her passion for storytelling through performance.
A pivotal moment in her journey came when she met SamTD, founder of Kasi Gallery, who became a mentor and guiding force. “He has become an older brother to me,” Angel says. Through his support, she gained access to modeling opportunities and explored brand ambassadorships. In 2024, she graced the stage at the inaugural Runway Revolution, later becoming a brand ambassador for Aqualux, showcasing her versatility and marketability.
Despite her successes, she admits the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing multiple roles—model, actress, brand ambassador—has tested her time management and emotional endurance. “Opportunity cost is real,” she says, adding that she’s learned to communicate clearly with event directors and prioritize her passions.

Dealing with rejection has also been a key part of her growth. “Criticism and rejection will always be there,” she acknowledges, but rather than letting them deter her, she uses them as fuel. “I take feedback seriously from people who know the industry, but I don’t let negativity destroy my confidence.”
One of the most transformative aspects of Zubuko’s journey has been learning to love herself. She candidly shares past insecurities about her appearance, saying, “People used to compliment me, but I wouldn’t see it.” Now, she embraces her beauty with confidence: “I tell myself every day that I’m beautiful. Ngi muhle like ngimuhle!”
Her message to aspiring creatives? “Go for it! Don’t let anything hold you back.” She believes that confidence is crucial in creative industries where rejection is common. “It doesn’t mean you’re not good enough; it just means you’re still growing.”
As she continues to evolve as an artist, Angel Zubuko stands as a beacon of inspiration—proof that with ambition, resilience, and self-love, young creatives can defy the odds and carve their own paths. With her vibrant spirit and fearless mindset, Angel is undoubtedly a star on the rise.
