HHOHHO – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla officially opened four new houses and a Neighborhood Care Point (NCP) across various constituencies in the Hhohho region on Friday, in a heartwarming initiative aimed at uplifting vulnerable families.

The first home, at Siphocosini Inkhundla, was handed over to 36-year-old Tengetile Shabangu. Widowed in 2021 when her husband, a police officer, was killed, Shabangu was evicted by her in-laws and has been staying with her sister and three children since then.

This year, she was allocated land, and the government constructed a two-room house for her, with plans for further modifications.

In Ntfonjeni Inkhundla, Hhelehhele area, 46-year-old Siphiwe Madlopha received a new home after living in a tent for over a year. Her house had collapsed during a storm, and the community allocated her land where the government built her a new house.

At Timphisini Inkhundla, a house was handed over to 72-year-old Gogo Tentile Mamba La Motsa, who had been residing in a dilapidated stick-and-mud structure. Her new home was funded by the Philip Morris Foundation through the DPM’s Office.

A neighborhood care point and an additional house were also opened at Mayiwane Inkhundla in Herefords, with the home given to the family of the late Correctional Officer Mthayi Dlamini. The Sinqobile NCP will now serve 76 children, offering informal education and a daily meal. Previously, the children gathered under a tree. The DPM, moved by their plight, facilitated the construction of a proper facility and promised to have the area fenced for safety.

DPM Dladla was accompanied by Portfolio Committee Chairperson Gcina Magagula, MPs Raymond Dlamini, Thulani Nsingwane, and Sicelo Dlamini, as well as staff from the DPM’s Office and the NDMA. Beneficiaries also received food parcels, beds, and clothes cabins, courtesy of the DPM’s Office, Royal Eswatini Police Service, and Montigny Company.
