Award-winning Deep House DJ and producer DJ Cup, born Zama Welcome Maseko, is making waves on and off the stage. The Eswatini-born entertainer is back in the spotlight—this time with a brand-new music project titled Prime Time Jams Part. 1.

Set for release this Friday, 2 May, the project features a stellar line-up of local vocalists including Zinia, Mvelo Tsabedze, and Temantungwa. It was recorded and mixed at New Life Records, and engineered by Tapes, marking yet another milestone in DJ Cup’s ever-evolving career.

“The project is about love and the drive to live boldly—being a go-getter,” said DJ Cup in an exclusive interview. “We had a great time creating it. This is only Part 1—there’s a lot more to come.”

The project, which took three to four months to complete, showcases a blend of smooth vocals and rhythmic house beats, promising listeners a fresh dose of deep house rooted in African soul and ambition.

DJ Cup’s two months ago performance at South Beach, Maputo was part of the Xibalo Label Showcase—a major house music event in the region. Though this wasn’t his first time in Mozambique, the vibe, he says, is always unmatched.

With over 10 years of experience behind the decks, DJ Cup is known not only for his energetic live sets but also for his work as a producer, podcast curator, and event organiser. As the Operations Director of New Life Entertainment, he manages a variety of music-related services, from sound hire and artist bookings to studio recording and mentorship.

Some of his notable collaborations include:

Take Me Away featuring Floewe

Happiness featuring Slotta and Mvelo

Amaphupho featuring Mandisa Mamba

His unique sound and dedication to the craft have earned him recognition in the form of MTN SWAMA Awards, including Best House Song (2020) and Best Collaboration (2021).

DJ Cup’s journey began with a passion for collecting music, curating playlists, and following his favourite DJs on platforms like Spotify. Now, he commands stages across Eswatini, South Africa, Tanzania, and Mozambique, earning a growing fan base with each performance.

As he continues to expand his musical legacy, fans can look forward to even more house music magic from DJ Cup. “Stay tuned,” he said. “This is just the beginning.
