SITEKI– Christmas Day is set to be redefined as a high-energy dance affair as South African music heavyweight DJ Tira confirms he will headline the “Golden Xmas After Party” at Espinho Lounge on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
The event, starting at 5 PM and running late into the night, promises to be one of the most significant musical highlights of Eswatini’s festive season.
Born Mthokozisi Khathi, DJ Tira, affectionately known with ‘Makoya Bearings’, is a pioneering South African record producer, DJ, and successful businessman whose influence spans over two decades. His career took flight in the early 2000s, but his vision fully materialized in 2007 with the founding of his influential record label, Afrotainment.
This label became synonymous with the ‘Durban sound,’ serving as the essential platform that launched the careers of major artists like Big Nuz and DJ Cndo, and playing a pivotal role in popularizing both Kwaito and, later, the bass-heavy rhythms of Gqom to a global audience. Through his sustained commitment to innovation, Tira has consistently remained at the forefront of African dance music, blending Gqom with Amapiano to maintain his status as a key trendsetter.
His ability to produce commercially successful albums, such as the platinum-certified 21 Years Of DJ Tira (2020), solidifies his legacy as a mentor, visionary, and undisputed king of the African dance floor.
The excitement for the Christmas Day event was solidified when DJ Tira sent a direct, enthusiastic message to his local fans. In a confirmation video on Facebook, he challenged the crowd: “Eswatini people do you want to groove with Makoya bearing, make sure you pull up at Espinho on the 25th of December to groove with Makoya bearing, I can’t wait to spend Christmas with you.”
With a headliner of DJ Tira’s calibre, Espinho Lounge is expected to be transformed into the ultimate festive hub for the Eastern side of the country. Known for its stylish ambiance, the venue will be buzzing with energy, attracting fashion-forward partygoers ready to celebrate Christmas in style.
