MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla brought hope and essential supplies to about 50 vulnerable pupils at Mbosi Primary School today (Friday, July 19, 2024).

According to information sourced from the DPM’s Office’s Facebook page, the school has an enrollment of about 247 pupils. It has faced challenges, including some children attending classes without proper shoes or jerseys.

The DPM was moved by images of children with torn or no shoes. She swiftly organised the donation of shoes, socks, jerseys, and food. “Education is very important and enables one to be a great thinker and always think outside the box. I was touched when I saw some pictures of children with torn shoes and others without shoes in this cold. Hence my office had to respond quickly in this matter,” said the DPM.

The visit also served as an encouragement for schools to become self-sufficient. The DPM urged schools with lot of land to start producing their own food, helping both the school and the pupils to learn agricultural skills.

The visit also included a promise from the Ministry of Education Minister Owen Nxumalo, who was represented by Under Secretary (US) Naniki Mnisi. The Ministry announced plans to construct a new administration block at Mbosi Primary next year. Mnisi also confirmed the ministry’s readiness for Grade Zero implementation across all public schools, with assurances of hiring more teachers and securing positions for contract educators.

The visit concluded with the donation of rice to Lutsango and blankets to five elderly women, further extending the day’s generosity and care.
