MBABANE – The Deputy Prime Minister, Thulisile Dladla, showed the government’s commitment to social welfare on 22 October 2025 by officially handing over four newly built homes across the Madlangemphisi and Ekukhanyeni constituencies.

During the event, she also issued a strong public appeal, urging citizens to make full use of existing government structures for family crisis intervention and skills development. The beneficiaries of the new homes included Mkhulu Mphenguli Gamedze (71) and Siphelele Hlophe in Madlangemphisi, and Mankenke Nkambulo (73) and Jabulane Khumalo (61), both from Ekukhanyeni.

Call for Crisis Intervention and Economic Skills

The DPM strongly urged the public to actively use existing government structures to address community crises, specifically mentioning out of school children and cases of parental abandonment. She emphasized the critical need to report such issues to the relevant authorities and the Social Welfare Department for timely intervention, noting the government is equipped to provide necessary assistance, including shelter and proper education.

Furthermore, citizens were strongly encouraged to embrace the skills development programs offered by the government, noting that acquiring skills is an essential pathway to economic prosperity and securing a sustainable livelihood in an environment with limited traditional job opportunities.

New Initiative and Sustainable Dignity

The DPM also officially introduced the Asibambaneni Sibe Ngumndeni program, a new initiative dedicated to reuniting families, restoring stability, and reinforcing core family values, maintenance responsibilities, and care. The program airs on Eswatini TV (Wednesdays at 8:00 PM, repeated Sundays at 6:15 PM) and EBIS (Sundays at 2:15 PM, repeated Wednesdays at 7:15 PM), with episodes also available on YouTube.

The handover event highlighted a commitment to sustainable dignity. The DPMO, in partnership with the Eswatini Environmental Authority and the Forestry Department, planted trees at each home to support food security. Each beneficiary also received a bed and wardrobe through Montigny Company, ensuring a dignified and comfortable new beginning.
