MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla and Minister for Health Mduduzi Matsebula yesterday (Wednesday, July 18, 2024) officially handed over a house to Gogo Emelinah Hluphekile Maseko (79) of Siphocosini.

According to information gathered by this publication, Gogo Maseko has been living in an old stick and mud house and sometimes she was scared that the roof would be blown off during windy season.

It is stated that Her Majesty the Indlovukazi’s Representative Ntombi Matse, DPM and Siphocosini Chief Prince Jabhane visited the place early this year to assess the situation and it was terrible.

The DPM appreciated Chief Jabhane for actively involving himself in the construction of the house and donated bricks. The Chief further donated curtains for the new house and gave Gogo E1 000. Former Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hlobsile Ndlovu donated a double bed and former Minister of Health Sibongile Ndlela-Simelane donated bedding.

“When we first came here to assess I wondered how Gogo Maseko has been surviving. Thanks to NDMA for quickly responding. From today you will be sleeping peacefully and no one has a right to evict you,” the DPM said.

Chief Jabhane pledged that Umphakatsi will make sure that no one bothers Gogo Maseko in her new house. The community donated bags of maize, NDMA donated two sponges and DPMO food. The office will further fence the home.
