DPM VISITS SIPHOCOSINI GRAND STAFF ORPHANAGE

MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla toured Grand Staff Ministry Orphanage at Siphocosini.

The orphanage was toured yesterday (Wednesday, July 17, 2024) by the DPM and her team from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO). Among those present during the tour was Siphocosini Chief Prince Jabhane and Siphocosini Member of Parliament Mduduzi Matsebula.

The orphanage is headed by the Spencer family which is said such home play a crucial role in keeping safe and nurturing children who have been orphaned. The care home is housing 18 vulnerable girls from the country, some of whom were removed from their homes after sexually violated.

The preschool has an enrolling of 40 children.

Dladla appreciated the Spencer family, who established Grand Staff Ministries Foundation at Siphocosini. The Foundation has given birth to Shepherd Care Home, Little Lamb Pre-School and a Church.

“We are humbled to find out that there is an orphanage in the rural areas that raises children in a manner that teaches them the Swazi Culture, such that they are able to talk to the elderly and they also participate in the cultivation of crops of the orphanage. We encourage Emwaswati to go back to their culture and stop sexual abuse,” the DPM said.

Becky Spencer said they were called by God to come and start the ministry in the country to care for vulnerable children. They dream of building a school in the area since children are forced to travel long distances to primary and high schools in the area.

MP Matsebula appreciated Government and Siphocosini Chiefdom for supporting initiative. “We would like to thank the chiefdom of Siphocosini for allowing supporting the initiative and give who want to give help to Emaswati,” Matsebula said.

The DPM was quite excited to learn that the centre is inclusive and provides therapeutic sessions for autistic children.
