NHLANGANO – The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) had a chance to promote a recently-launched programme known as ‘Asibambaneni Sibe Ngumndeni’ during the King’s 57th Birthday celebrations.

The celebrations were held on April 25, 2025 at King Sobhuza II Stadium in Nhlangano. The DPMO took advantage of the fact that the international community had descended to Shiselweni’s biggest urban area to inform the people in that area about this wonderful programme.

This programme is aimed at uniting the nation and encouraging everyone, including parents and children to play their role in making sure that the family unit is strengthened. The strengthening of the family unit will go a long way in enhancing social cohesion and nation building.

The programme was launched on January 15, 2025 at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) in Mbabane. It was launched by DPM Thulisile Dladla, who was with Taiwan’s Ambassador to Eswatini Jeremy Liang. Liang was with officials from the Embassy to donate two vehicles to assist in the implementation of the programme.

The vehicles, a Toyota Hilux GD6 twin cab and a Toyota Quantum kombi, will be used by the staff members from the DPMO to track down the irresponsible members of the public, who do not take care of their children and/or their parents.

Making the donation, Ambassador Liang said the donation was mostly motivated by the friendship that has been enjoyed by Eswatini and Taiwan since 1968. He said these countries have shared a bond and the two countries have been able to help one another in sectors such as health. Liang said they wished for these relations to continue between these two countries.

In response, Dladla, who was visibly excited by this development, profusely thanked Ambassador Liang and his team for the donation. The DPM said her team at the DPMO had always wanted this programme to take off because of the startling revelations they came across when they provided services to vulnerable members of the public across the country. She said some elderly women were forced to take care of their grandchildren, while the children of these elderly women (parents to the grandchildren) vanished into thin air.
