MBABANE – Eswatini’s efforts to attract foreign investment have paid off as Dubai Ports, a leading global logistics company, has set its sights in the country as a potential site for expansion.
This was revealed by Minister for Information Communications Technology (ICT) Savannah Maziya on Thursday (25 July 2024) in a press conference held at Business Eswatini Mafini. Maziya stated that this recent development presents exciting prospects for job creation and economic growth for EmaSwati.
“We are happy today to announce that we have invited the executives of Dubai Ports to come to Eswatini to look for business opportunities and also most importantly to meet the business community,” she said.
Maziya acknowledged that the visit of Dubai Ports was not directly related to her ministry’s mandate at ICT, however, she emphasized the significance of the delegation in showcasing investment opportunities and opening new markets to local business owners.
Maziya expressed pride in her ministry’s efforts to bring such a significant player in the global logistics industry to Eswatini, and looked forward to the interactions between the Dubai Ports representatives and the local business community.
She hoped that these engagements would lead to fruitful partnerships and ventures, particularly in the fields of logistics, shipping, and trade, which would ultimately benefit the country’s economy and employment landscape.
The Minister expressed her appreciation for Dubai Ports’ visit and noted that she was enthusiastic about attracting more foreign investors to Eswatini in the future.
She said such collaborations not only boost the economy, but also have the potential to generate more job openings for EmaSwati.
