MBABANE – The luckiest golfer to nail the ‘hole-in-one’ during the King’s Cup, golf tournament will take home E500 000.
The annual tournament will be played between September 5th and 8th at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club (Formerly Royal Swazi Golf Course). The hole-in-one will apply at the 18th hole. This was announced by the tournament Organising Committee member Vusi Dlamini on Thursday.
‘A hole in one is a perfect stroke or short in golf, where one drives the ball from the tee into the hole with a single (one) stroke. Making a hole-in-one is a milestone achievement that will resonate for a lifetime
Dlamini said the hole-in-one incentive was outside the package played for in the tournament that will attract golfers from outside the country.
The King’s Cup, golf tournament was launched a fortnight ago by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, who announced September 5-8 as the official dates for the 2024 King’s Cup Golf Tournament.
The main tournament will be preceded by a pre-qualifier PRO-AM on August 31 and September 1 where a total of 88 golfers are expected to take part in the pre-qualifiers. Only Emaswati golfers will play in the pre-qualifiers.
This is the 20th edition of the Kings Cup which has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. The Patron of the tournament is His Majesty King Mswati III.
