MBABANE – The fourth edition of the Lubombo Marathon have been sponsored to the tune of E80 000 by the Royal Eswatini Sugar (RES) Corporation.
The launch was held on Monday at Simunye Country Club were RES Corporation Managing Director Nick Jackson handed over the cheque to Athletics Eswatini (AE) President and TZD Sports Chairman Zakhele Dlamini in the presence of Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (CEO) Darius Dlomo.
The marathon that will feature three events being the 42.2km, 21.1km and the 10km will be held on April 5, 2025 at Siteki Sports Ground.
“A big thank you to all our partners, sponsors, and attendees for making this event a success. We are grateful for the continued support of all our sponsors as we prepare for this exciting event. The Lubombo Marathon continues to grow, and this year promises to be the best one yet,” reads a statement from AE.
Registration for the event will be done manually at Fitness Zone in Manzini, Siteki Hotel in Siteki, the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) office in Lobamba and the ESRC office sin Mbabane.
Each athlete will pay E200 for the 42.2km and the 21.km while it’s E160 for the 10km. All the races will start at 6am on the day. The first 500 runner to register will be given some goodie bags.
The event had gone all the way in attracting international runners, something that contribute positively to the tourism sector.
