MANZINI – The Youth Sustainable Development Centre (YSDC) on 19 to 21 August 2025 will host its inaugural Eco-Digital Innovators Academy in Manzini, a groundbreaking program designed to equip high school students aged 15–18 with essential green and digital skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
The three-day academy aims to empower youth to become innovative, eco-conscious leaders who are ready to tackle global and local challenges, particularly those driven by climate change and digital transformation. With youth unemployment rising and the demand for sustainability-focused solutions increasing, YSDC believes this academy offers timely and practical support.
“The world is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and our youth need more than textbooks to navigate it,” said Nokuthula Mamba, Executive Director at YSDC. “This programme gives young people the tools to become agile, innovative leaders who can turn global challenges into real-world solutions while playing a vital role in building a sustainable future.”
The program will include interactive workshops, field trips to real-world green projects, and leadership development sessions. After the academy, participants will receive mentorship support and be linked to local and international development opportunities to further nurture their ideas and turn their skills into action.
According to Mamba, the academy is not only an opportunity for personal growth but a national investment in Eswatini’s future. “By equipping youth with green and digital skills, we unlock potential to build more resilient communities, drive innovation, and prepare for the demands of tomorrow’s economy,” she added.
Applications are now open and accessible via YSDC’s social media platforms. The deadline for submissions is 10 August 2025. The applicants must be in high school and have access to a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
