EEC DONATES E1.1M TO GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC HOSPITAL

MANZINI – MOTRACO Board Management, through Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), donated laundry equipment worth E1.1 million to Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital.

The Mozambican electricity-supplying company (MOTRACO) made this donation yesterday (Thursday, July 4, 2024) at EEC Manzini Regional Office.

The EEC Managing Director Ernest Mkhonta, speaking through EEC Acting Managing Director Bheki Motsa said although the company’s main focus is on producing, transmitting, and distributing electricity in the country, it is committed to looking after its neighbours and fellow citizens in social responsibility.

They aim to have a significant impact on enhancing the community’s quality of life by addressing poverty and supporting community development through their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives.

Motsa said that a key collaborator in this effort was MOTRACO, a Mozambican electricity company which has assets in South Africa and Eswatini.

According to MOTRACO General Manager, Aderito Sousa, the laundry equipment amounting to E1.1 million donated by the company serves the purpose of benefiting the community, aiding patients, and enhancing healthcare standards.

Sousa pointed out that this initiative aimed to deliver superior and enhanced medical services through the expertise of exemplary doctors and nurses.

Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muzi Motsa said he hoped that the partnership between EEC, MOTRACO and Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital will grow into higher levels due to the fact that it is embedded on common values, which are to lend a helping hand and empower the community.

Motsa commended EEC and MOTRACO for stepping up to help the hospital, following a series of requests. The CEO went on to tell that the donations will help the hospital to serve more than 20 000 people who come to access medical services annually.

He said the hospital admits about 8 000 patients and receive greater number from patients coming from other regions across the country and outside the borders of Eswatini, including Mozambique(Maputo) and South Africa(KwaZulu-Natal Natal).

Speaking on behalf of the hospital, Dr Khosi Mthetfwa, the chairperson of Good Shepherd hospital also echoed the words of the CEO and extended her sincere gratitude to the boards of MOTRACO and EEC for their incredible generosity, support, and commitment by donating the laundry equipment.

Mthetfwa urged the public for patience with EEC. She acknowledged the recent storm’s impact and emphasized EEC’s efforts to restore electricity for everyone. She also pledged to work towards saving electricity.

In the presence of Good Shepherd representatives, the chairperson presented certificates of appreciation to EEC and MOTRACO.
