MBABANE – Meat lovers in the Muslim community have a new reason to celebrate as Embiveni Meat Industries opens its Halaal shop in Matsapha.
Speaking to this publication on September 24, 2025, Zawad Juma Mselam, Halaal Shop Supervisor, said the new outlet offers convenient access to meat prepared according to Islamic law.
“Halaal means meat that is slaughtered lawfully according to Islamic faith and permissible under Islamic principles. The animals must be healthy, not from forbidden species like pork or dogs, and spiritually purified before slaughter. Our Muslim staff ensure these standards are fully met,” Juma explained.

While Embiveni Meat Industries has long provided Halaal meat, the difference now is the dedicated shop in Matsapha. The Embiveni has two sections, factory which is exclusively for Halaal meat, and another call process for other types of meat.

The shop currently offers a variety of beef cuts, with plans to add goat, chicken, and sheep. Halaal burgers are also available in separate packages. Customers can enjoy a 10% discount up until month end.
Juma encouraged the Muslim community to visit and see the Halaal process first hand. “We also plan to visit Muslim communities to educate them about our products and standards,” she said.
The shop opens from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and closes at 3:00 pm on Saturdays.
With this new shop, Embiveni Meat Industries continues to provide high-quality, lawfully prepared meat to the Muslim community, making Halaal more accessible than ever.
