EOCGA CEO MAXWELL JELE ELECTED ANOCA ZONE VI SECRETARY

MBABANE – Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maxwell Jele was elected Secretary General of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone VI.

Jele was for the election unopposed. The elections were held in Malawi at Sunbird Livinstonia Beach. Jappie Mhango, President of the Malawi Olympic Committee won the presidential election with a four-year term, defeating South Africa’s Barry Eugene Hendricks by a vote of 7-4.

ANOCA Zone VI, which comprises Southern African nations, plays a crucial role in promoting and coordinating Olympic activities in the region. The election results signal a new era of leadership aimed at fostering sports development, athlete welfare, and regional cooperation in the Olympic movement.

ANOCA Zone VI member states include; Malawi, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Jele was recently handed a four year contract by EOCGA and he is expected to serve ANOCA Zone VI for the next four years.
