ERS TO HOST GROUNDBREAKING DIGITALIZATION ROADMAP SYMPOSIUM

MBABANE – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) will host the Digitalization Roadmap Symposium tomorrow (11 December 2024).

Themed “Digitalized and Data-driven with Our Partners,” the landmark event aims to showcase ERS’s ambitious journey toward digital transformation, which aligns with its 2024-2027 strategic goals.

According to ERS Director of Communications and Marketing, Ntobeko Dlamini, the Symposium will feature an impressive lineup of thought leaders, innovators, and government officials who will share insights on leveraging digital tools to enhance service delivery and compliance.

Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg, will deliver opening remarks, setting the stage for an engaging day of discussions and demonstrations.

Dlamini stated that Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology Savannah Maziya, will deliver the event’s keynote address.

“The Minister will emphasize the critical role of ICT in driving Eswatini’s transformation into a digitally enabled economy,” Dlamini said.

Key highlights of the Symposium include:

  • ERS’s Digitalization Journey and Current Ambitions Featuring a presentation by ERS Commissioner General, Brightwell Nkambule and members of his EXCO on the progress and vision for ERS’s seamless registration, transformed declarations, integrated payments, and smart border solutions.
  • Panel Discussions: Industry experts and partners will deliberate on the impact of digital public infrastructure, focusing on its role in the digitalising tax and customs operations. Speakers include: Dr Methula, Acting CEO of the Royal Science and Technology Park (Moderator)
  • Mr Msebe Malinga, Registrar of Companies,
  • Mr Mvilawempi Dlamini, ESCOMM, CEO
  • Mr Sebenele Madzinane, Montigny, Group Tax Manager,
  • Mr Sabelo Gama, CBE, Deputy Director Operations: Payment Systems
  • Focus on Employee and Client Experience: Presentations by ERS leaders will explore methodologies for embedding digital agility within the organisation and enhancing client interactions.

Dlamini stated that the event underscores ERS’s commitment to forging partnerships that drive innovation, efficiency, and compliance while contributing to Eswatini’s broader digital agenda.

The Symposium will be streamed live from 8:30 AM on the official ERS Facebook and YouTube platforms, ensuring accessibility for stakeholders nationwide. The ERS encourages clients, partners, and the public to engage in this pivotal conversation on Eswatini’s digital future.
