MBABANE – The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) today handed over medical equipment worth E250 000 to the Mbabane Government Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The donation is the latest in a series of contributions from the corporation aimed at strengthening critical care services in the country.

What began as a lifeline during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a sustained partnership. Back in 2021, ESRIC stepped in when the ICU was under unprecedented pressure, providing urgently needed equipment. Fast forward to 2025, and the corporation continues to walk alongside healthcare workers, equipping them to save lives.

“Our support for this hospital goes beyond obligation—it is a reflection of our belief that healthcare is a right for all,” said ESRIC General Manager Zama Ngcobo during the official handover ceremony. “We are proud to continue this journey with the Mbabane Government Hospital.”

The donation includes Alpha Active 4 Pneumatic Pump Mattresses, Conox Sensors for both adults and children, oxygen regulators, antimicrobial curtains, disinfectant spray, Hugger Warming Blankets, a laptop, and LED televisions—items that not only support clinical care but also improve patient comfort.

Welcoming the donation, Dr. Lomangisi Dlamini highlighted the significance of the Conox monitoring system, which allows ICU teams to assess patients’ brain activity—technology rarely available in public health facilities. She also noted how even non-clinical items like televisions contribute meaningfully by promoting mental wellness and easing the stress of hospital stays.

Dr. Thandolwakhe Tembe described the donation as “timely and life-saving,” applauding ESRIC’s continued dedication. “This partnership has already made a tangible difference, and today’s gesture reinforces that impact.”

Over the years, ESRIC has donated a wide range of ICU essentials, from oxygen systems and syringe drivers to hypothermia-prevention devices and anaesthetic monitors. Each year, the corporation expands its support—demonstrating a model of corporate responsibility rooted in lasting impact.

As Mbabane Government Hospital continues to care for patients in critical condition, the consistent support from partners like ESRIC ensures that caregivers are equipped not only with tools but also with renewed hope.
