MBABANE- The Eswatini Chess Federation (ECF) has officially adopted its amended Constitution, marking a significant milestone in the governance and future of chess in the country. The revised 2019 Constitution was formally signed today during a special general assembly held at the Federation of Eswatini Associations (FEA) headquarters.

The comprehensive review process, which commenced in July 2024, involved extensive consultations with a broad spectrum of the chess community, including clubs, players, coaches, and other stakeholders. This inclusive approach ensured that the new Constitution reflects the collective vision and needs of Eswatini’s chess fraternity.

One of the key outcomes of the constitutional amendments is the reinstatement of the electoral process, which had been suspended pending the review. The Federation has announced that elections will now proceed as scheduled on June 29, 2025. This election is expected to usher in a new leadership team tasked with steering the Federation towards greater achievements on both national and international stages.

Chess enthusiasts and community members have welcomed the news, viewing the new Constitution as a positive step towards revitalizing the sport’s governance and enhancing opportunities for players at all levels.

The ECF encourages all registered members to participate actively in the upcoming elections and continue supporting the growth of chess in Eswatini.

With this decisive move, the Eswatini Chess Federation is poised to build a stronger, more inclusive future, fostering talent and passion for chess across the nation.
