MBABANE – After an excellent start for Eswatini Cricket National team, in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifiers, they now face the hosts Nigeria in their second match to be played Tuesday afternoon.
Eswatini had a brilliant start when they gave a fantastic performance that earned them victory over St Helena, winning by 48 runs. The game against Nigeria will be played in the afternoon, 3pm (local time).
The Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) said the match against Nigeria would be one of the toughest as they were still due to play country including Côte d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone.
“Eswatini to take on host Nigeria this afternoon: A crucial showdown for the Nation’s hopes. Eswatini faces one of its toughest challenges yet as we take on the host nation, Nigeria in what promises to be a fiercely contested match. Nigeria, determined to extend its winning streak and continue its dominance, will be a formidable opponent. But Eswatini is more than ready to fight with everything we’ve got,” reads a statement from ECA.
The Eswatini cricket team that is made up of 12 player and two officials is currently sitting in fourth (4th) place on the points table with three matches remaining, with Nigeria top of the table.
“Eswatini knows this is a make-or-break moment. The stakes are high as we push to finish in the top two and secure our spot in the Africa Final for 2025. Every point counts and the team is determined to leave it all on the pitch today,” concluded the statement.
Eswatini is represented by players including Adil Butt (Captain), Buhle Dlamini, Javid Suleman, Joseph Wright, Umair Qasim, Muhammad Amin, Minhaz Khorbariya, Melusi Magagula, Rohan Sandeep, Mancoba Jele, Mohammed Alangir, Veli Jele, Tarun Sandeep and Thandolwethu Dlamini.
The Coach is Sohail Khan while Mandla Dlamini is the manager.
