MBABANE – Eswatini’s diplomatic stage was abuzz today morning as Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini hosted two distinguished guests, reaffirming the Kingdom’s growing role in global affairs and its unwavering commitment to international cooperation.

In a high-level meeting held at the Private and Cabinet Office, the PM welcomed His Excellency Moussa Saleh-Batraki, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS). The leaders engaged in robust discussions focused on the pressing challenges confronting the OACPS and explored pathways for strategic reform within the organization.

Eswatini pledged strong support for the Secretary-General’s vision, emphasizing a shared commitment to revitalizing the OACPS to better serve its member states. The Prime Minister highlighted Eswatini’s proactive involvement in the organisation, underpinned by the Kingdom’s current leadership roles— Pholile Shakantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, serves as President of the OACPS Council of Ministers, while Eswatini’s Ambassador to Belgium, H.E. Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, chairs the influential Committee of Ambassadors.

“These positions are not just symbolic; they reflect Eswatini’s active voice in shaping policies that uplift member states and champion the values of multilateral cooperation,” said PM.

Adding to the day’s significance, the premier also received H.E. Dr Lin Chia-Lung, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan). This marked Dr Lin’s inaugural visit to Eswatini, and he was visibly moved by the Kingdom’s serene beauty and warm hospitality.

Discussions between the two leaders reaffirmed the enduring friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan. Both parties committed to advancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic development, education, and health.

“Our relationship with Taiwan is one of trust, respect, and shared progress,” said the PM. “We remain committed to nurturing this partnership for the benefit of both our peoples.”

Today’s diplomatic engagements underscore Eswatini’s growing influence on the global stage, as the Kingdom continues to strengthen bonds of cooperation that support peace, development, and international solidarity.
