MBABANE – The country had sent two netball teams, being women and men’s team to the Africa Netball Cup to be held in Swakopmund, Namibia from December 9-14, 2024.
The teams left the country on Friday after bidding farewell by the Under Secretary in the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Under-Secretary Mzwandile Mthethwa and Director of Sports Lucky Sihlongonyane among others.
Eswatini will face eight countries in the women’s tournament and they are Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe while in the men’s team there are seven countries being Kenya, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
During the farewell, the Captains were announced with Fortune Neves to captain the men’s team while Ncamsile Dlamini will lead the women’s team.
The women’s national team will be led by Coach Friction Mayisela and he will be assisted by Themba Sifundza while Edgar Phila Maphalala is the team doctor.
The players are Ncamsile Dlamini, Londiwe ‘Thumbu’ Mhlanga, and Nomcebo ‘Twin’ Sibandze, Cebile ‘Twin Sibandze, Abigall ‘Aby’ Simelane, Mukelwa Magagula, Silindzile ‘Shakiri’ Dlamini, Nonkululeko ‘Nkuli’ Sihlongonyane, Lindelwa Dlamini, Vuyisile Thusi, Nothando ‘Zazi’ Msibi and Cebile ‘TLB’ Mbuli
The Coach for the men’s team is Wandile Sithole and he will be assisted by Themba Sifundza with Edgar Phila Maphalala being team doctor.
The players are Mandisa ‘Macpeace’ Sihlongonyane, Mpendulo Mncina, Sandziso ‘Fezo’ Maseko, Brandon Dhlamini, Mpile Masilela, Fortune Neves, Sakhile ‘Mangena’ Maseko, Ndukwenhle ‘Nduku’ Masangane, Siphiwo Dlamini, Thabo ‘Rajah’ Maphosa, Thembinkosi ‘Lorch’ Matsebula and Simanga ‘Mgwaja’ Vilakati.
