MATSAPHA – Eswatini Railways has officially launched the much-anticipated Ses’khona Tourist Train Experience, a cross-border adventure designed to offer travellers an unforgettable journey from Eswatini to Mozambique.
The scenic trip, set to run from 19 to 21 December 2025, will depart from Matsapha Station, taking passengers on a captivating exploration of Maputo, Mozambique’s vibrant coastal capital. The initiative seeks to promote regional tourism while providing locals and international visitors with a unique travel experience that blends leisure, culture, and adventure.
The official launch ceremony took place on 17 October 2025 at Esibayeni Lodge, attended by prominent stakeholders including Nixon Dlamini, CEO of Eswatini Railways; Thulani Mkhaliphi, Principal Secretary at Eswatini Railways; Chunky Mdluli-Dlamini, Head of Marketing at the Eswatini Tourism Authority; and Mthokozisi Dlamini, Chief Immigration Officer from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Promoting Cross-Border Tourism and Regional Unity
In his remarks, Nixon Dlamini underscored the importance of the Ses’khona Train in strengthening regional integration and enhancing tourism between Eswatini and Mozambique.
“This year’s tourist train is destined for Maputo on an exciting journey,” Dlamini said. “Mozambique is a vibrant coastal city that offers a unique blend of culture, scenery, and hospitality. Through this initiative, we aim to foster cross-border tourism and create shared experiences that strengthen regional ties.”
Chief Immigrations Officer Mthokozisi Dlamini, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, expressed the Ministry’s full support for the project, assuring travellers of smooth immigration procedures.
“Our ministry is committed to promoting safe, regular, and orderly migration,” he said. “We encourage all participants to prepare for their trip early and ensure that their travel documents are up to date.”

Gold Package – E3 100 per person
- Second Class Sleeper Coach (6 passengers per cabin)
- Dedicated train crew
- Complimentary light meal served on board
- Guided tour tickets (48 available for families)
- The first 15 buyers receive a Stanley Cup
Silver Package – E2 600 per person
- Second Class Open Coach (40 passengers)
- Dedicated train crew

Closing the event, CEO Nixon Dlamini invited the public to be part of this historic adventure.
