“In the targeted areas, hypertension care services have increased by 28%, diabetes care services by 36%, and over 60% of patients with both conditions have returned for follow-up visits within three months,” he revealed. “Furthermore, the referral rate for high-risk individuals identified during community screenings has reached 80%.”
These figures demonstrate the tangible benefits of coordinated healthcare strategies and community engagement. Ambassador Liang stressed that the achievements extend beyond numbers, reflecting growing public awareness and commitment to self-care. “These results show that when communities are empowered through education and access to services, people can take proactive steps toward healthier lives,” he said.

The project, launched In January 2024, has focused on improving healthcare delivery in the Hhohho and Manzini regions, incorporating outreach screenings, health education, and interactive campaigns. Today’s World Diabetes Day Health Campaign brings together multiple partners to cover topics ranging from chronic diseases and nutrition to HIV/TB and maternal health.
Ambassador Liang expressed gratitude to all partners contributing to the campaign. “Thanks to your support, the campaign covers a wide range of topics, and I am confident that all participants will gain meaningful insights from these sessions and interactions,” he said.
Eswatini’s fight against non-communicable diseases, including diabetes and hypertension, is becoming increasingly urgent. The Hon. Prime Minister Russell Dlamini has even urged the nation to treat NCDs as a national emergency, highlighting the rising prevalence of chronic conditions across the country.
With continued collaboration and community-focused initiatives, the Government of Taiwan and Eswatini’s Ministry of Health hope to expand access to quality healthcare, ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can live healthier, longer lives.
