NGWENYA – A Heartfelt Initiative: #LoveEswatiniGives
The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) staff and the public handed over a generous donation to the ABC Ministry’s Robin Richter, which included children’s essentials such as toiletries, diapers, and clothing.
The ABC Ministry provides a safe haven for abandoned new-born babies until they are two years old or, in some instances, until they turn three years old.
In her speech, founder Robin Richter revealed that she and her husband have been caring for abandoned and needy babies for the past 29 years. Originally from South Africa, they gave up their citizenship to become EmaSwati in 2004. It is worth noting that the home currently houses 15 babies and five adults.
Richter thanked the ETA for their kind gesture and mentioned that they rely on donor funds to operate the home. She expressed her appreciation for the donors who help monthly, stating how much they truly value their support.
ETA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vusi Dlamini, in his speech, mentioned that he was informed about the initiative by the ETA staff, which he regarded as a great effort. He noted that February is the month of love, under the theme #LoveEswatiniGives, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative—a project that is close to his heart.
Dlamini emphasized that representing the ETA was not just about promoting the stunning landscapes and rich culture of Eswatini to the world; it was about nurturing the soul of the nation. “True tourism is about fostering a thriving and compassionate society,” he declared passionately, highlighting the importance of ensuring that every citizen could lead a dignified life.
Today, the ETA was delighted to support the ABC Ministry with a donation of essential items, including food, baby clothing, toiletries, and diapers. Each item represented a commitment to the community and a tangible expression of their belief that every child deserves a healthy start in life and every family deserves access to basic necessities.
ETA chose to focus on the ABC Ministry because of the critical support they provide to those in need. Their dedication resonates with the spirit of “Ubuntu,” a principle at the heart of Eswatini’s culture that emphasizes compassion and interconnectedness. He reminded everyone that #LoveEswatiniGives is more than just a hashtag; it is a call to action for all to play a role in building a stronger, more caring Eswatini.
As he spoke, Dlamini shared his vision for sustainable tourism, believing that a healthy and prosperous community is the backbone of a thriving tourism sector. “By investing in our people, we are investing in the future of Eswatini,” he stated, his voice filled with hope.
Dlamini took a moment to express gratitude to the ABC Ministry for their partnership and for allowing the ETA to be part of their vital work. He also acknowledged the Richter Family, who care for the children at ABC Safe Haven, as well as the ETA staff members and members of the public who contributed to the donation drive. “Your generosity and willingness to give back are truly inspiring,” he said warmly.
As the event concluded, Dlamini encouraged everyone to continue working together to build a nation where compassion and generosity are the hallmarks of society. “Let us continue to #LoveEswatiniGives, not just today, but every day,” he urged, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to their community.
