ESWATINI UNDER-17 BOYS LOST 5-1 TO ZIMBABWE IN CAF/ COSAFA QUALIFIER

MBABANE – The National team, Under-17 Boys lost 1-5 to Zimbabwe in their opening match of the in the CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations/ COSAFA Qualifier played at the University of Johannesburg’s AW Muller Stadium on Thursday.

Eswatini is in group B against Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia. Zimbabwe started the game flying high as it went for half time they were leading 4-0. Eswatini came back better in the second half as they were able to match the opponents.

Dlamini scored the lone goal for the local side led by Nsindiswa Gama while Zimbabwe also added another goal forcing the game to end on the 5-1 defeat to Eswatini.

The country now remains with two games in the group stage against Namibia on Sunday and Zambia on Tuesday during the last day of the group matches.

There are three groups with each having four teams from the 12 that are taking part in the tournament.

The top teams from the three pools and the best runner-up from all the groups will progress to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, it almost the same story for the National team, Girls Under-17 as they suffered a 6-0 defeat to Lesotho in their opening match on Wednesday during the 2024 COSAFA Under-17 Girls’ Championships.
