MBABANE – Eswatini’s vision for a self-reliant healthcare system is taking shape as the country strengthens its strategies to ensure sustainability in the face of global funding uncertainties.

The Ministry of Health has emphasized that while the temporary suspension of PEPFAR funding presents challenges, it also provides an opportunity for Eswatini to accelerate its long-term sustainability plans. The HIV/AIDS Sustainability Roadmap, launched in December 2024, is already guiding the country in developing new funding models and strengthening local health initiatives.

“We remain hopeful that US support will resume after the 90-day review, but in the meantime, we are prioritizing measures to ensure that healthcare services continue without disruption,” the Ministry stated.

Government’s proactive approach in securing ARV supplies, maintaining HIV testing services, and reinforcing public-private partnerships is a testament to its commitment to a healthier Eswatini. As the nation works towards its 2030 goal of being HIV/AIDS and TB-free, the current challenge is being met with innovation, determination, and unity.

These articles now present a more positive and resilient outlook while still addressing the reality of the funding pause. Let me know if you’d like any further adjustments!
